This Saturday, from 6-7:30pm at East Heights, our Pinckney Elementary community is gathering for our annual Back To School Potluck. Every year everyone is really great about bringing a fantastic dish to share, so please do (remember to mark your dishes/utensils with name/phone #).
Meg Lyles is putting a lot of hard work into organizing this event and she could use a little help. Please visit this event’s Sign Up Genius at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0d4fadac2da7f49-back1 and see if you can’t pitch in a little to help make this event another success. Remember that our Pinckney PTO is “parent-powered” and every event we put on for the benefit our ourselves, our children and our staff needs all of us working together whenver we can. We do appreciate your help!
We have a few events on our calendar that are still looking for someone to step up and organize. I know I’ve been approached by many people, particularly those new to Pinckney, asking for ways they can become involved more with our school community. Taking on one of these events is a GREAT way to get involved in your child’s school, and we provide plenty of support.
Currently, we are looking for someone to organize both the Fall and Spring Staff Luncheon. Fall Staff Luncheon, is Thurs. Nov. 10th and Spring Staff Luncheon is Thurs. Feb. 23rd. Please contact us at email@example.com if you would like to help out! Thanks!
RED CARPET WELCOME, FRIDAY, AUGUST 12th, 7:30am
“We hope your summer has been full of memories. It is hard to believe that it is already August and time to welcome our teachers back to school with a Red Carpet Welcome on August 12 at 7:30 am. Please help us to fill the sidewalk leading to the North entrance of Free State HS with a a crowd of students and parents and as many cheers as possible by letting your members know about the event and sharing our FaceBook event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/169928723408259/
Also, this year we will greet our teachers with messages from our parents sharing their hopes and dreams for their child for the school year, or simply thanking them for making a difference in the lives of our children. WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please ask your parents to write a message that we can share with our teachers and staff at this link: https://docs.google.com/a/greenbush.org/forms/d/1gvti-DNEc24Zsy93UfggvsmYxMAWCMkswAklE16B51M/edit
We are expecting to greet over 1,800 (!) people on August 12 so we ask that everyone park at either Theatre Lawrence, Sprouts, or Walmart rather than in the Free State parking lot.
Many thanks and we look forward to seeing you on August 12!
PINCKNEY KINDERGARTEN GET-TOGETHER, SATURDAY, AUGUST 13TH!
Got a rising kindergartener this year? Know someone who does? We are planning an informal get together for this year’s kindergarten class. Please join us for Popsicles and play time on Saturday, August 13th from 10-12 at East Heights. Drop in anytime- its a great chance to meet other families and let the kids get a lay of the land (or at least the playground).
If you have any questions related to either of the events above, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org!
Just a reminder that today, Monday, June 20th, is the Pinckney Elementary PTO Summer Meeting. It is being held at 5:30pm at East Heights at 1430 Haskell Ave. (our 2016-2017 home while construction commences at the Pinckney buidling). Childcare will be provided as will snacks and we invite all Pinckney parents, staff, etc to attend. The primary agenda of the meeting will be discussing our PTO events scheduled for 2016-17 and assigning individuals who would like to oversee these events, which are crucial to our PTO mission, so we would love to get as much participation as possible!
Check out what’s going on at Pinckney!
That being said, with only 19 odd school days left (don’t tell your kids!), this will be the LAST PTO email newsletter of the 2015-2016 Pinckney Elementary School Year. But it might be the MOST IMPORTANT! Here’s why:
1) The Annual Pinckney Street Dance is THIS SATURDAY (May 7th, 5:30pm-7:30pm! This year’s Street Dance is looking like it is going to be the best one in a long time! Thanks to a generous donation from the Schofield Family, our food options have been upgraded and we are proud to offer concession stand 2.0! We will be offering Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Chicken Sandwiches, and Hot Dogs as our main course.
We are also looking for donated baked goods for the cake walk and just plain helpers for all the fun and games for our event. Please consider signing up for just one easy 60-minute shift, we could really use the help!
3) Getting ready for a NEW Pinckney! As staff and administration get ready for our yearlong stay at East Heights, while the current Pinckney building undergoes a very exciting and major update, the school will have several days this month that families may come to school and help staff with this HUGE project of packing. If you have the time and inclination, your help would be appreciated on Saturday, May 21 from 9-12 and Tuesday, May 24 from 5:30-7:30.
If you are receiving this for the first time as the parent of an incoming Pinckney kindergartener, first Welcome! and second, please see below for other, more updated PTO resources (Facebook groups, etc.) that we encourage you to join in order to always get the latest information.
Tomorrow (Thursday, 4/28), support Pinckney by stopping by Chipotle at 911 Massachusetts St. between 5pm and 9:30pm! Eat and Pinckney gets 50% of all proceeds! You have to mention Pinckney at the register and there’s no law about recruiting other, non-Pinckney customers in the line with you to do the same….
Pinckney PTO Meeting tonight- Monday, April 11, at 5:30 in the Pinckney Library/Media Centrum. Childcare and snacks provided! We’re starting the process of lining up next year’s PTO Board, so please stop by this meeting or next month’s meeting if you have an interest in any board position!
The Pinckney Really BIG Sale is coming up: Sat. Feb. 20th! We need a massive amount of volunteer help to make this, our largest fundraiser, a success.
Just a couple of hours would help us out. Please volunteer! See link below to sign up:
